Oscha Middle-earth™ collection is inspired by the magical world of J.R.R Tolkien. Their store is packed with a range of beautiful designs based on one of the most popular books and film trilogies of all time. With content that is a key part of pop culture and with an ever-growing fan base, we wanted to find out more from the creators of the store to rule them all. Read on to hear about the brand’s past adventures and future quests.
We’re massive fans of the store and stoked to hear more about your story. So what is Oscha and what inspires you?
We craft baby slings and accessories, with a focus on beautiful design. They are all woven in the UK and handmade in Scotland from ethically sourced yarns. We started Oscha because we wanted to encourage baby carrying with all its benefits by making slings and carriers that parents would love to use, that also have a positive impact, from our supply chain to our interactions with customers.
I love seeing how the patterns work so well on different products like t-shirts and jumpers (I’ve bought a few for myself already!). I’m really excited by our Doors of Durin™ and Tree of Gondor™ designs, as I think we are bringing our detail and elegance to some of the most iconic images.
Can you tell us more about the Oscha clothing store and how it all started?
Part of the reason we started the clothing store is because of our customers. They are passionate about our designs and they wanted to bring the memories of the patterns on the slings they’ve used with their babies, into their day to day lives.
Our first collection is a line of Middle-earth™ designs, which encapsulate a mythology that has enthralled generations of children and adults.
Our customers love these designs because they can bring their own childhood and stories of Tolkien into their own bonding experiences with their children.
This collection is a perfect compliment to our timeless, elegant aesthetic. We are really excited to have the exclusive rights from Middle-earth Enterprises to build this collection.
We absolutely love your designs, they’re super cool. What strategies have you used to spread the word about the store?
Part of the reason we created the store was actually because some of our existing fans really wanted us to bring out a clothing range, so we gave them a special preview of the store before advertising it. This was amazing for word of mouth promotion!
We’re also planning to increase awareness even more by linking up with other Tolkien fan groups and sharing some of our products with influencers.
That is a good tactic, targeting a really specific audience is a great idea. What advice would you give someone who is first starting to build their own clothing brand?
I guess having a passion for your design and knowing that there are people out there who would be delighted to have the opportunity to buy it!
The great thing about Teemill is that it gives companies and startups the opportunity to trial ideas without making a big commitment or investment.
You don’t have to develop your own supply lines, but you also know that you’re working with a company that is built on sustainability.
Thanks so much for sharing your story guys. We can’t wait to see what’s next for Oscha.
