Teemill started out as a waste reduction experiment at award-winning brand Rapanui. The R&D grew into a world-leading high-tech, low impact system and if you sell t-shirts online with Teemill, you are part of a sustainability story that has changed the way the fashion industry is designed. From new printing technologies to organic and sustainable materials, to renewable energy and clothing recycling, learn more about how your products are part of the solution, not part of the problem in the fashion industry.
99% of all textiles products end up in landfill, that’s a garbage truck per second and with less than 1% of clothing being recycled there are people in the world who are motivated to solve that issue. Just buying less slows down fashion, but it doesn’t change the final destination. We need to change the system. When we started our company we had a big vision, to fix the forces behind fast fashion.
When brands buy in bulk lowers the price – but it also means more waste stock. The solution is to go on sale, reducing prices, which encourages people to buy more stuff for less. Which puts pressure on suppliers to cut corners. It’s a downward spiral.
The root cause leads to waste and price wars, neither of which work with our ambition to be part of the solution, not part of the problem in fashion. We want to spend more, not less, on low impact materials, renewable energy and responsible suppliers. So we started working on technology to solve this issue. Over the last few years we’ve been building software, machinery and systems to make products in real time and ship them the same day to consumers.
Products at our factory do not exist until after they are ordered – and yet if you order today you can still get your product tomorrow. We now manufacture in real time.
Teemill is the online login where you can build your own brand on this supply chain. Every product is made from more sustainable materials, our factory – and our supplier’s factory in India – is powered by renewable energy, and our supply chain is audited for a wide range of social and sustainability criteria.
And that means your products come with sustainability as standard. For the full story, follow the journey of a Teemill product from seed to shop
