The World Oceans Day story with Sam

We love seeing charities and organisations use our tech to power their online stores. We were so stoked to hear when World Oceans Day launched their shop as it’s a cause we’re super passionate about. The team were kind enough to share their thoughts on how tees would fit into their charity fundraising efforts. Sam from World Oceans Day shares their journey…

Hi Sam, we’re massive fans of World Oceans Day here at Teemill. Could you tell us more about it?

World Oceans Day is a global day of ocean celebration and collaboration for a better future. On the 8th of June every year, World Oceans Day provides a unique opportunity to help protect, and conserve our oceans.

What an amazing idea! Why did you choose Teemill for your clothing?

We love that Teemill products have a traceable story and are made with lower impact materials. These values are very similar to our own, helping to support our work inspiring action to protect our ocean.

It was a bit daunting at first but we quickly found our feet. We found it really easy designing new clothes, marketing our collections and fully customising our store.

We needed a way for our organisers from around the world to be able to customise their own World Oceans Day prints for their own projects. A nifty little feature in Teemill helps them do this.

What do you find is the biggest advantage to using Teemill?

Teemill gives you tools like high-quality images of models wearing World Oceans Day designs. This tool has been really useful for increasing interest and sales in our marketing, especially social media.

What types of marketing have given you the best success?

Mainly social media and email newsletters. We’ve found it is also really important for making our products and website look amazing before we reach out to our customers with marketing. This is so quick on Teemill.

When our followers take pictures of themselves wearing our tees and post it on social media, they’re helping to spread awareness for the issue.

Many of our designs are focused on the action for World Oceans Day 2018: to prevent plastic pollution and encourage solutions for a healthy ocean. This is a really important message that our followers and customers get behind.

Our aim is to generate a huge buzz with our following around this day. Selling product isn’t our main priority, but we naturally see some great results on this day and this really helps us out – which is awesome!
