Like when we make it so that if you have a design on Men's and the same design on Women's, it can't be the same product (hint - that one's for <a href=\"\/blog\/?search=SEO\">SEO<\/a>). Sometimes you might even see some part of your site that looks slightly different on mobile compared to desktop. The reason is science. Teemill uses algorithms to test and improve your store automatically.<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/5da446e2872304.31349828.jpeg.jpg?w=1140&amp;h=auto\" alt=\"\" title=\"39190665\"><\/p><p><strong>Behind the scenes, we use lots of data science, testing and optimisation to figure out what will work best for stores like you.<\/strong><\/p><p>The AIs that run these programs work in the background learning what works for you, based on what they've learned from analysing other stores across the network similar to yours. The data is fed back into the system and means everyone can benefit from all of that experience and expertise.<\/p><p>We starting doing this with simple A\/B split tests. It meant we can roll out two versions of say, a checkout page, and visitors had a 50% chance of seeing each variation. We'd then look at a metric, say, <a href=\"\/blog\/?search=conversion+rate\">conversion rate<\/a>. And the winner would stay on. That way we can find a few percent improvement in the yield of our store.<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/5da634ff059242.14120203.jpeg.jpg?w=1140&amp;h=auto\" alt=\"\" title=\"39256582\"><\/p><p>These days we have zillions of visitors on Teemill stores and write much more sophisticated algorithms that can make much more dynamic changes, running several tiny incremental tweaks and spreading their learning across the network.<\/p><blockquote><p>We never change anything unique to your store, like your images or your text, or your logo, or your designs. We're taking about the technical stuff around your content.<\/p><\/blockquote><p>The static content that comes out the box in Teemill is what we're working on to find you that extra boost in sales. For example, we will repeatedly test language on the site, like the difference between \"add to bag\" to \"add to cart\" or \"buy now\" - then analyse the data to see which gets you the most clicks. In fact, much of this work has already been done.<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/5da63650b8caf9.67521862.jpeg.jpg?w=1140&amp;h=auto\" alt=\"\" title=\"39256770\"><\/p><p>We also optimise the relationship between image quality and site speed, so you get better SEO potential whilst maintaining a strong conversion rate.<\/p><p><strong>The most important lessons have already been learned.<\/strong><\/p><p>The dynamic product list is a super simple example of how you can deploy intelligent content manually. When you use this block at the bottom of you homepage, it will add bestsellers in and the computer learns which ones to show. If you released a t-shirt today focusing on a campaign that was big in the news, and some people bought it, the trending product would start appearing in this block.<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/5da736ba4898f9.96171580.png.jpg?w=1140&amp;h=auto\" alt=\"\" title=\"39290116\"><br><br>That example seems pretty much as expected. Sometimes our algos throw out results that are totally counter-intuitive. You probably already know that the customer on your store covers the cost of postage to their home when they buy your stuff. We wanted to test how different postage prices affected sales, as obviously a lower price would encourage more sales - but that assumption, it turns out, is totally wrong. In fact, we found conversion rate went <em>up<\/em> as postage price increased up to around a fiver, and down as post got cheaper. This didn't make sense until we spoke to some customers, who said they didnt <em>trust<\/em> a \u00a31 delivery ... oh yeah.<\/p><blockquote><p>That's why tests are so powerful: It helps us let go of opinions and just deal in what truthfully will benefit you and your customers.<\/p><\/blockquote><p>And when we tested out the best offer, discounts, buy one get one free or free shipping, it was the free shipping that outperformed the rest by almost a factor of two, which is why we do regular <a href=\"\/blog\/?search=freepost\">freepost<\/a> weekends now.<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/5da6361d1950c7.78101897.jpeg.jpg?w=1140&amp;h=auto\" alt=\"\" title=\"39256745\"><br><br>So AI means store owners can focus more on the creative aspects of their store, like designs, marketing and original <a href=\"\/blog\/?search=photography\">photography<\/a> - things AI can't do.
