Google's algorithm assesses web pages based on how relevant the web page is compared to what a person is looking for. It also assesses the quality of the website and how trustworthy that web page is too. In this blog, we're going to talk more about trust, so let's begin.<\/p><p>Previously in the SEO series we've talked about how trust can be built with links or endorsements from trusted web pages. On top of this, there are other ways to build trust or be considered \"trust worthy\" by Google's Algorithm - and that's with reviews.<\/p><p>Identifying that a site has been reviewed positively is surprisingly hard for Google to do. When Google searches through website data, it's not like a human and can struggle to understand context. Google doesn't know the difference between a product description, something the store operator has written or a customer comment.<\/p><p>A tool was developed to help Google and search engines accurately decide what context text has been written in. This tool is called Structured Data or Structured Data Markup.<em> <\/em>Structured data markup is like HTML where you use tags around your words to tell the computer what to do. For example if you wanted a word to be <strong>bold<\/strong> you would do this:<\/p><blockquote><p><strong>word<\/strong> = &lt; b &gt; word &lt; \/b &gt;<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Structured data markup happens in the background with code. It communicates with the computer and tells it how to display and categorise text or content.<em><br><br><\/em><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/qecfmzkewxvs1kj9k4wqxpun9mjgrljzy3afac4wzgobff6s.jpeg.jpg?w=1140&amp;h=auto\" alt=\"\" title=\"76908458\"><br><em>- Paul Harfleet's beautiful designs have earnt him many positive reviews, encouraging new customers to order his products as well as boosting SEO for his store. <\/em><br><br>On every product page on your Teemill store, your customers have the opportunity to review your products. If you go on to one of your product pages and click Review, that's where your customers can review your products. They can give your products a score out of 5 and\/or they can write a review.<\/p><p>When your customer places a review on a product, in the background the Teemill system adds structured data mark-up so that Google understands the context and knows that text is a review. If someone has given you a positive review, Google is aware that it is positive. And if it's relevant, Google might even show that review in search results. Good reviews can help to increase your site's trust which in turn will increase your click-through rate and traffic.<\/p><p>Something that you can do today to help increase the trust score of your website is to invite your customers to review your products on your own Teemill store. If they leave a review on your Teemill store, Google will see it too.<\/p><p>We've done some other cool stuff to help with reviews. Google themselves published a little API that identifies when somebody is writing hateful reviews or spam. So, if people or competitors try to spam your site, Teemill's AI will know it's not genuine and make sure that it doesn't affect your score. And with that in place, you shouldn't be afraid to ask your customers to review your products.<\/p><p>Your <a href=\"https:\/\/teemill.com\/analytics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Analytics page<\/a> allows you to keep track of your reviews. From there it's easy to share them to your social media. You can see your reviews at a glance and set targets depending on this like 'get 10 5-star reviews over the next month'. This may help you choose what to focus on improving, depending on what your reviewers are saying. You could make the review into a picture and post it on your social media.
