In this part of our Getting Started series, we're talking about three things that we recommend you try out when you're beginning your Teemill store. We're going to look at creating new collections, building webpages and writing blogs. Plus how to put them all together in your menu.<\/p>

Collections<\/strong><\/h3>

After you've designed a bunch of products, the first thing to focus on is creating collections. You might want to put certain types of products together, like Men's and Women's. A collection is a webpage that groups and presents those similar products in one place. It's a really good idea to group your products into collections, especially if you have lots of them, as this will make your products easier to find for your customers.<\/p>

To make a new collection, go to the main menu on your Teemill dashboard and click Website, <\/a>then Collections<\/a>. To create a new one, click Add New<\/a>.<\/p>

-- This is an example from Tatty Devine. Once you've linked up a collection to your Menu, <\/a>you can click the box and arrow icon in the top corner of Teemill to open your site and view your collection as your customers see it, complete with filters for easy browsing.<\/em><\/p>


Once you've added a title and a description for your collection and some pictures, the next step is to add your products. When you click Add Product, you can add any of the images associated with that product to display in the category. If you've uploaded your own photography<\/a> by ordering your own samples<\/a>, taken your own photos and added those to the product, they'll appear here too.<\/p>

Remember that as part of Teemill, you get lots of free stock photography in Drive<\/a> that you can use for pictures on your Teemill store. You can also use an AI photo for your product and if you do, they'll appear in Drive<\/a> as well. Or if you want to just show the product on its own, then you can also select a product flat.<\/p>

Hold and drag products around to reorder and click on them again to change the image you want to show.<\/p>

Web Pages<\/strong><\/h3>

Teemill has a really simple website builder. One of the things you'll want to do when building your shop is creating your Homepage and additional pages on your website.<\/p>

Navigate to Website<\/a> from the main menu, then click Pages<\/a>. We recommend starting by building a homepage, then you can add more pages by clicking New. You can choose from the templates already provided such as for your About page. When a new page loads up, it will already have lots of features pre-loaded with our recommended layout for the best navigation and customer experience. Pro Tip: With pages, you can add individual products but you can also link across to collections. It's a good way to structure your website - linking to pages that then link to collections.<\/p><\/blockquote>


Blogs<\/strong><\/h3>

Writing a blog on Teemill is really easy and a great way to provide valuable content that keeps people coming back. To start, go to your main menu, click Website,<\/a> then Blogs<\/a> and then click Create<\/a>.<\/p>

Now you can add some content to your blog. This includes adding images by clicking the button that looks like a little mountain drawing. Try highlighting the text and using the B and I buttons on the toolbar to make words bold<\/strong> or italic.

<\/em>You can also add quotes using the \" button, like this:<\/p>

The quote tool is good for sharing pro tips or important snippets of information as well as key ideas from your founder.<\/p><\/blockquote>

And you can even insert links and embed songs, podcasts and videos using the page icon. Once you've turned on the Published toggle on your blog and saved it, the new blog will be available to read on your website. Now, it's time to make it easy for people to find all of this new content that you've created and the way to do that is by editing your menu.<\/p>

Menu<\/strong><\/h3>

Head to Website<\/a> in the main menu of your Teemill dashboard and then click Menu<\/a>. This menu controls the navigation at the top of your store page when it's loaded onto a desktop. If your store is being used on a mobile device, the navigation will be a drop down menu at the side instead.<\/p>

It's a really good idea to have a very simple menu. We suggest no more than seven titles and ideally just using one word. This is because most of your customers will be on their phone and just using their thumbs to scroll through, so really simple, basic menus work well. If you have lots of content, you can group it up into collections or into pages and just navigate to those pages from the menu.<\/p>

- Creating cool photos for your collections is another way to make your pages pop and be more appealing for your customers. Tatty Devine used this image for their European collection.<\/em>

Linking your Menu up with your pages and collections is easy. Click the +, then click Link to see all the options.<\/p>

You can simply copy and paste a URL, or link directly to a Product or Collection. To link to a page you've built or a blog, click Page. This is also where you can link to pages we've pre-built for you, such as FAQs, and Pro stores<\/a> can even add a link to a Custom Studio <\/a>where customers can design their own products. If you click Studio in the Links pop up, you can select which particular item in the Custom Studio to send visitors to. <\/p>

You can change the order of your menu items by clicking and dragging them up and down. There is also an option to delete or edit them using the three dots next to each menu title. Remember - nothing will change until you hit save.<\/p>

To preview the new look of your store after you have saved your menu, click the preview site button which is in the top right corner of your dashboard - the button looks like a little square with an arrow inside. Once you're on your store, you'll be able to see your new updated menu, collections, pages and blogs.<\/p>
